Happy Pride to my fellow freaks, perverts, and queers. To everyone else, defend us in a loud and obnoxious way this month and always - shit's bleak. As usual I'm trying to inject a lil joyous insanity into the distopian hellscape so we can use our pleasure to propel our fight. If you’re in LA come celebrate with me and keep your finger on the speedial.
The Thrill of My Month: I’m in the LA Times!
After working in comedy for 15 years, it’s such a major delight to finally be recognized in a major publication, be quoted in a flattering way, AND look so hot! I’m so proud of Video Visions and now you don’t just have to take MY word for it, The LA Times says you should come out to our next show Thursday, June 26th at 8-10pm within the microcinema at Videotheque!
Tonight I’m Presenting Bound (1996) at Videotheque
TONIGHT (Friday, June 20th) come watch one of my favorite movies, Bound (1996), with me at Videotheque. Details and tickets here! I programmed our 3 Pride Month screenings, but I’m most proud to present this Wachowski Sisters erotic neo noir about two of the sexxxiest women ever commited to celluloid (Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon) finding pleasure in each other’s company while the seedy Chicago underground pulses all around them.
Saturday Comedy Shows
TOMORROW (Saturday, June 21st) you have the chance to catch me in two shows. Picture This, a live ANIMATED comedy show (I’m gonna be a cartoon!), hosted by Brandie Posey at The Lyric Hyperion at 7pm (tickets here) and The Pillow Fort Cinema Club, sleepover meets game show meets VHS séance, hosted by Jupiter Baudot at The Pack Theater at 11pm (tickets here).
Finally, my hair looks so good today and I got a new necklace
I hope you’re holding up okay. Beauty and goodness is all around us despite the horrors. Challenging yourself to find it can be a fun game (more fun than doomscrolling even)! I’ve gotten very into birds bc I can’t montize them (YET) and they are everywhere singing and doing tiny lil bird things which I find cute. Every time I see a bird it acts as a mindfulness bell and I take a deep breath, slow down, and try to let the simple beauty of it wash over me. Mindfulness bells can be anything. Maybe locking into one this weekend could be gentle thrills for you? Anything to keep the head up, y’know?
La-la-love you! Thanks for always having my back! xo LTB
